Our Story

From Two Kitchens to One Oven

Some of my earliest memories are of standing in a kitchen, just tall enough to see over the counter, watching someone I love make something from nothing.

I grew up between two food traditions. My family is Vietnamese and Chinese, and in our house food was never just food. It was how we celebrated, how we comforted each other, and how we said the things that are hard to say out loud. On one side there was the smell of strong coffee dripping slowly through a metal filter, pandan leaves, and coconut. On the other there were almond cookies, sesame, and the warm, spiced sweetness of the treats that came out around the new year. [Kayleigh: add a real memory here if you have one, like a dish, a holiday, or a moment in the kitchen with family.]

I didn't start out as a baker. I started out as the kid who asked too many questions and wanted to help with everything. Eventually that turned into my own experiments: cookies that spread too far, brownies that came out too dense, and a lot of batches my family ate anyway, smiling. Little by little I learned. I learned how matcha changes a dough, how ube makes everything a little more joyful, and how a pinch of five-spice can make something taste like home.

The more I baked, the more I wanted to bring those two kitchens together. I wanted to take the flavors I grew up with and turn them into something I could share with friends, neighbors, and people who had never tried pandan or black sesame before. When I saw someone take a first bite and then reach for a second, I knew I'd found something.

Emerald Pastry started with a simple goal: I want to pay my own way to college.

I'm a student at Emerald High School here in Dublin, and I've always known what I want to do. I want to become a dermatologist. I want to help people feel comfortable and confident in their own skin, because I know how much that matters, especially when you're young. [Kayleigh: if there's a personal reason this dream matters to you, a sentence or two here would mean a lot to readers.]

That path is long, and it isn't cheap. So every order you place goes straight toward that future. Every cookie I bake, every box I pack, and every note I write by hand is one small step closer.

When you order from Emerald Pastry, you're getting more than something sweet. You're getting a little piece of my family's kitchens, made with care in mine. And you're helping a student build her future, one batch at a time.

Thank you for being part of this. It truly means the world to me.

With love (and flour on my sleeves),Kayleigh
